2003

2003 saw the introduction of the New Shape Renault Scenic in 4 Different Trim Levels the Authentique, the Expression, the Dynamique and the Privilege. It also introduced a selection of 3 VVT (variable valve timing) petrol engines and 2 dCi (diesel engines).

The superlative multivalve petrol engines saw an increase in power output to deliver instant response, ample torque and smooth power delivery for enjoyable driving. The 1.4 16v develops 98 bhp, the 1.6 16v develops 115 bhp and the 2.0 16v gives 136 bhp.

2004

The Diesel Engines offer the benifits of the latest generation high precision common rail technology. Because they burn every drop of fuel so efficiently their emissions and fuel consumption levels are both commendably low. The diesel engine comes in three power outputs, the 1.5 dCi 80 bhp which was later joined by 1.5 dCi 100 bhp in 2004 and the 1.9 dCi 120bhp.

The 2.0 ltr petrol and the 1.9 dCi Diesel both are fitted with the new beautifully engineered 6 speed Renault gearbox.

An Automatic gearbox option is available employing the sequential shift proactive gearbox. It uses advanced computer technology to ensure the gearbox pattern matches your individual driving style and can be overridden at any time putting you in total control.

February 2004 also saw the introduction of the 7 Seater Renault Grand Scenic

2005

The scenic range continued virtually unchanged until the later part of 2005 when the power of the 80 bhp 1.5 dCi was raised to 86 bhp, the 1.5 dCi 100 bhp raised to 106 bhp and the 120 bhp dCi was raised to 130 bhp and had the addition of a particle filter and was designated the '130 FAP'.

NB... It was around this time that the service intervals changed from 18,000 miles/24 months to 12,000 miles/12 months for the petrol cars and the diesels were reduced to 9,000 miles/12 months. This change was with the introduction of the cleaner Euro IV engines and the addition of the FAP filter to the 130 bhp diesel.

2006

2006 saw the introduction of the 'Maxim' and the 'Dynamique S' as special editions with 16 inch louxor alloys, a dark half leather interior and climate control alongside the existing models as either 5 seat versions or the 7 seat Grand Scenic. The Maxim was higher specification than the Dynamique but below the Privilege.

Late 2006 saw the introduction of a mild facelift with a slightly modified front, l.e.d. lights, the addition of an i-pod and music multifunctional tune-point and a standard 6 speed gearbox on the 1.5 diesels and the 1600 cc petrol versions. The standard car lost the automatic lights and wipers but gained cruise control and speed control as standard.

The Grand Scenic then became available as an optional 5 seater instead of 7 to give a larger boot without the seats.

A new diesel was introduced with 150 bhp and both the 130 bhp and the 150 were available with an automatic gearbox for the first time since 2003. The 130 bhp had a 4 speed auto and the 150 bhp a 6 speed automatic gearbox.

2007

Early 2007 saw the introduction of a special edition 'Extreme' model as a 5 seater or grand 7 seater with the option of the 1.4, or 1.6 petrol engines or the 1.5 dCi engines based on the Authentique with the addition of the Authentique AC with air conditioning, the i-pod multifunctional tune point and 16 inch Tuxedo alloy wheels.

Later in 2007 the Dynamique S replaced the Privilege as a standard model with a very similar specification but a dark charcoal grey half leather interior instead of beige.

Also in mid 2007 the 4x4 style Conquest was introduced with the choice of either the 136 bhp 2 litre petrol engine or the 130 bhp dCi.
